The Institute for Dynamic Educational Advancement (IDEA) is a nonprofit organization that recognizes the Internet’s potential to transform the learning process by making information accessible and engaging. The organization is dedicated to identifying unique challenges that prevent the Web from reaching its educational potential, and developing creative, innovative approaches and technologies to solve those problems.

IDEA arose out of the belief that there should be no barriers between people and computers. Technology is now advanced enough to adapt to the ways people naturally think and interact with the world. The user’s experience with technology should be personalized, interactive, and intuitive, so that the tools add breadth and depth to the information presented, and stimulate creative thought. Innovative strategies built into the technology can help people from all walks of life maximize their potential.

IDEA strives to enhance the very ways people think and learn by developing innovative technological solutions informed by real-world applications. Our Projects page describes some examples of the myriad ways that our breakthrough solutions enrich learning for people of all ages.

IDEA’s commitment to enhancing computer-based learning extends beyond providing useful, accessible information to the public. By publishing our intensive research on the theoretical underpinnings of our applications, we hope to stimulate academicians, commercial enterprises, librarians, and others dedicated to facilitating learning to further explore and implement the most effective strategies and mechanisms available. We release many of our technological innovations as "open source" tools, allowing others to build upon the foundations IDEA has created.

Thus, IDEA innovates and implements strategies to enrich learning, while at the same time providing others with the tools to do the same.

Corporate Status: IDEA was incorporated and received its 501(c)(3) designation in 2002.
